Routes from Fethiye
West route
Day 1
On day one you arrive in
Fethiye and will board your ship. You meet the flotilla
leaders and the other people who join the flotilla. In
the marina is a good supermarket where you can do your
provisioning. In the evening you go with the whole
flotilla group for dinner in the town.
Day 2, Kapi Creek (15 miles)
At 09.30 the flotilla leaders will give the briefing
about the route and destination for that day. They will
give you all the information about the local hazards,
weather and nice anchorages where you can go. After the
briefing you can go out whenever you are ready and the
flotilla meet each other in the afternoon in the next
beautiful bay. This day you can sail very nice in the
Fethiye bay and get used to the boat. Sailing in the bay
is very special because it is more protected but has a
variety of different winds so it is a challenging area.
Day 3, Asi Koyu (25 miles)
Today we make a nice trip on open sea with a chance to
see dolphins. We leave Kapi Creek and go first half a
hour on engine and after rounding Peksimet island we
sail on open sea westward. It is wise to leave after the
briefing because you need more time for this trip. In
the summer the wind is most of the times from the west,
so this trip is with the wind on the nose. But with good
tactics you have the best upwind sailing in the crystal
blue water you can imagine.
After a good day of sailing you can relax
in the beautiful bay of Asi Koyu and have a swim to the
beach. You moor up on lazy lines and a long landline.
Day
4, Marmaris (25 miles)
From Asi Koyu we sail again westward. The first
challenge is to beat the disiblimez cape where the winds
and waves can be a little bit stronger. We leave the
military bay to starboard and enjoy the sailing on open
sea. It is also nice to sail into the bay of Marmaris
between the islands and turn to starboard to the marina.
Marmaris is situated in a large bay. You moor up in
Marmaris Yacht Marina with very good facilities. There
is a nice swimming pool, supermarket and restaurant. The
marina lies on the other site of the bay so you our far
enough of the noise from the city, but only 15 minutes
with the Dolmus to go downtown in Marmaris and explore
the nightlife if you want.
Day
5, Eckencik (20 miles)
You have a nice downwind sail to Eckencik, the wind is
mostly from the West and can be a little stronger in the
afternoon so if you want to break your speedrecord then
give it a try. In Eckencik we anchor in front of the
beach. This bay is close to the famous turtle beach of
Dalyan and with a little bit of luck you see turtles
swimming around your boat. It is possible to make a
short tour to the Dalyan delta next morning.
Day 6, Ruin Bay (25 miles)
Today you sail back to the Fethiye Bay, again a nice
downwind sail. After 15 miles we turn to port again into
the big bay of Fethiye. You sail through a narrow
channel and deep in the bay under steep mountains you
find the famous Ruin Bay with the friendly family and
the restaurant serves the best food. If you like to
hike, bring your hiking shoes with you and after hiking
you can have a good scuba in the clear water of Ruin
Bay.
Day 7, Fethiye, Ece Saray Marina (15
miles)
Today is the last sailing day from this week. You can
have a nice sail in the bay and have a lunch break at
one of the anchorages in the bay. In the afternoon you
have to be back in the marina.
East Route
Day 1
On day one you arrive in Fethiye and will board your
ship. You meet the flotilla leaders and the other people
who join the flotilla. In the marina is a good
supermarket where you can do your provisioning. In the
evening you go with the whole flotilla group for dinner
in the town.
Day 2, Thomb bay (15 miles)
At 09.30 the flotilla leaders will give the briefing
about the route and destination for that day. They will
give you all the information about the local hazards,
weather and nice anchorages where you can go. After the
briefing you can go out whenever you are ready and the
flotilla meet each other in the afternoon in the
beautiful Thomb bay. The first sailing day you have a
nice sail in the big Fethiye bay, islands at the horizon
so a lunch stop at anchor is possible. The bay is
protected so you can get used to the boat. Sailing in
the bay is very special because it has a variety of
different winds so it is a challenging area.
You cross the bay and sail into later into Thomb bay.
On the steep cliffs off the bay are Lycian rock tombs.
It is worth a walk up to the tombs, as much for the
dramatic site as for the tombs themselves. Dont forget
to bring your walking shoes.
Day 3, Sarsala (15 miles)
The big bay of Fethiye has too many beautiful bays to
visit in one week. You get the change to visit the best
ones. First you have a nice sail in the bay and at
lunchtime the flotilla meets in a nice bay with clear
water where you can have a scuba dive and relax a little
bit. In the afternoon close to Sarsala you can find
stronger winds without waves and still sailing in your
swimgear, must be a fantastic experience! After a nice
sail round the islands you moor up in Sarsala where the
restaurant serves very good Turkish food.
Day 4, Karacaören (20 miles)
Today you leave the bay of Fethiye in the east
direction. First you sail in the bay and later you go to
open water and go round a cape into the direction of the
destination. Before you enter the bay you can sail along
the famous Ölü Deniz beach and Gemiler Island. At
Karacaören the restaurant people will help you to find a
mooring and in the evening they will pick you up with
the water taxi for a nice dinner.
Day 5, Göçek (20 miles)
Today you first sail on open water and after rounding a
cape you enter the Fethiye bay again. You go totally to
the end of the bay and normally the wind is from the
west so it is a nice downwind sail to Göçek. This is the
most important watersport center in the area, here you
will find more boats than houses. In the town with the
big boulevard there are a lot of small shops and
restaurants.
Day 6,
Boynüz Büku (15 miles)
There are a lot of islands in the bay of
Fethiye. First you have a nice sail out of Göçek and at
lunchtime you anchor behind one of the islands to have a
nice swim and lunch. In the afternoon you sail in the
fjord-like bay which is covered in pine woods on its
slopes. If you like you can make a beautiful walk to the
waterfall or join the watersport activities, like a ride
on the banana or a flight with the parasail.
Day 7, Fethiye, Ece Saray Marina (15
miles)
Today is the last sailing day from this week. You can
have a nice sail and a lunch break at one of the
anchorages in the bay. In the afternoon you have to be
back in the marina.
All flotilla routes shown are examples only. They are
subject to change depending on weather conditions,
