The peninsula of Istria, located in the western part of Croatia, is the primary tourist region of Croatia.

Its unique qualities are the result of its location - the place where the Mediterranean penetrates deep inside the continent, and is isolated from most of Croatia by het U?ka massif. This stunning cruising area offers the best of Croatia, a combination of vibrant cities with a fascinating cultural heritage and uninhabited islands and beautiful bays. Here we have two main bases: Portoroz (Slovenia) and Pula.

Portoroz is easily reached from the airport of Trieste. You can reach Pula in the summer with a regular hydrofoil service from Venice what the travelling makes easy and fun.

Pula
Located on the Istrian Peninsula, bordering Slovenia and Italy is also close. Here lies the town of Pula full of museums and a rich history, with traces of Byzantine, Venetian and Austrian cultures still evident today in the city. Pula is also home to one of the world's largest Roman amphitheatres, the Arena in Pula.

Starting from Pula, the huge sailing area with numerous anchorages, islands in the east, like Cres, Losinj, Krk, Rab and Silba - all very different and beautiful. On a two week charter from Pula, you can choose to continue to sail to the south to the spectacular and serene Kornati National Park or even the popular islands of Hvar and Korcula.

Our base in Pula offers a variety of sailing yachts from 32 to 47 feet. It is just 15 minutes drive from Pula Airport to Marina Veruda. It is a modern marina with good facilities, a number of bars and restaurants, showers and a supermarket. It also is awarded the most popular marina in North Croatia.

Istria also offers excellent and varied sailing and is our recommendation / insider tip. It is less crowded than the areas in the south and offers spectacular sailing and rural beauty in places like Rovinj and around the islands of Cres.

Sailing information

Yachting is the trademark of Croatia over the world. With its numerous well-equipped marinas and hundreds of harbours, natural creeks and bays on the islands and along the coast. The Croatian Adriatic coast is a must for all sailing enthusiasts. The lonely and uninhabited areas and islands, the beauty and serenity of untouched nature, are a haven for visiting sailors.

The coast and islands of Croatia are a sailor's paradise with many good marinas and ports located at pleasant distances in the area. Known as the "Coast of a Thousand Islands' the Dalmatian coast of Croatia is a pearl for the sailor. Not only beautiful scenery around every corner, but also beautiful Venetian architecture in most cities on the island or the mainland.

Sailing in Green Istria

The interior of Istria in the beautiful villages is often praised for its beautiful nature, authentic food and agro-tourism. The 3000-year-old Pula is famous for its high culture, historical treasures and the Arena, a Roman amphitheatre where gladiator fights once, but nowadays concerts by famous artists such as Sting, Pavarotti and Eros Ramazotti are held.

National Park
The Brijuni archipelago with surrounding underwater world enjoys the status of the only National Park of Istria, which because of its lush flora and fauna and cultural heritage is one of the most beautiful Mediterranean archipelago.
